Dress Code

Proper dance attire is required for student participation. This ensures the safety of your child as well as a professional and disciplined learning environment for our dancers.

Creative MoveMINT & Ballet/Jazz Combo I & II

  • Any form fitting dance apparel is acceptable (leotard, tights, tutu, dance skirt, dance shorts)
  • Pink or skin-colored ballet shoes

Ballet

Ballet dress code is designed to allow the teacher to see the visual “line” of the dancer. All ballet students should wear tights underneath their leotard. Dancers of color may choose to wear a traditional ballet pink tight or a flesh-toned tight to match the natural skin tone. For all students, tights and shoes should match. The Dance Shop can assist with matching tights and shoes.

  • Solid colored leotard Ballet tights (we suggest Capezio #1916C or #1916 in Ballet Pink, Toasted Almond, Mocha, or Java)
  • Ballet shoes (We suggest SoDanca #SD16 in Light Pink, Mocha or Nude or Bloch #SO205G in Pink)
  • Hair secured in a ballet bun
  • Dancers may wear a ballet skirt or bike shorts over their leotard. Dancers may NOT wear tutus or athletic/loose fitting shorts over their leotard.

Dancers taking another class before or after ballet will not have time to completely change clothes, so they will need attire they can wear over their ballet clothes. It is extremely important that dancers are on time to each class, so changing attire completely will not be permitted. We recommend purchasing “transition” ballet tights for this purpose.

Jazz & Kidtemporary/ Jazz

  • Any form fitting dance apparel is acceptable (bike shorts, half top, leotard, leggings, etc)
  • Skin-colored jazz shoes

Contemporary & Modern

  • Any form fitting dance apparel is acceptable (bike shorts, half top, leotard, leggings, etc)
  • Barefoot! No shoes or half-soles allowed

Tumble Tots & Acro

  • Any form fitting dance apparel is acceptable (leotard, unitard, bike shorts, etc).
  • NO tutus, skirts, or excess clothing
  • Barefoot! No shoes or socks allowed

Reminders

  • Please mark your child’s name in all belongings
  • Please make sure all hair is secured away from your dancer’s face
  • No jewelry allowed
  • Gum is prohibited

We appreciate your cooperation! For any questions concerning the dress code, please email the office: info@studioofmovemint.com
